South Belfast Young Conquerors parade - 31/07/10
This parade over the years has always been a brilliant day out. Th best Blood and
Thunder bands in the country always attend as was the case today.
Around 40 bands on show, some of which was Lambeg Orange and Blue, Cloughfern Young
Conquerors, Gertrude Star, Newtownards Protestant Boys, Newtownards Volunterr flute,
Rising Sons East Belfast, Downshire Guiding Star, Kilclunney Volunteers, Clogher Protestant
Boys and Pride of the Hill Rathfriland. The one hour route takes you around Sandy Row up to
Barrington street and back down to Donegall Pass.
It was a very warm day and the crowd seemed to lift in the sunshine with bands
lifing when passing. The new route i felt is far better with the turn of, it gives bands a chance
to catch their breath before making their way back down. Excellent crowds at the Royal
Bar.
Below is a selection of photographs of the band in action.

Our own band paraded today with 7 of a colour party, 1 drum major, 15 drummers,
3 bass drummers, 27 flautists and marshalls. I have to mention our long time member
Chris Morton, on a break from his tour of duty the night before roared back today on
the bass drum to help the band. He returned with all of our thanks.
I felt we started of slow getting the pace right. But once we did it lifted us.
Drum section were on fire, young Chris is doing the buisness and the bass drummers played
to their usual high standard. The flutes getting stronger by the tune.
I have to mention our colour party also. They take alot of stick in the band but have come on
leaps and bounds and deserve a good shout out.
Well done SBYC, another great day in the pass.

East Belfast Protestant Boys Flute Band Chairman
